One Tree Gardens specializes in Vertical Gardens which are designed to maximize small spaces with a variety of plants producing high crop yields. We think of it as gardens all grown up. For the home gardener, we offer the Tower Garden as well as Tower Garden Workshops to help you get started with your own Vertical Garden.
For commercial and urban farms, we can help with the planning, design and construction of your commercial or roof top food farm.
Matt Greger, Owner
I’m an accidental gardener. I grew up in gardens since my father is a horticulturist and growing plants were always part of my life, but I never thought I would end up becoming passionate about gardens. Starting out as a graphic designer, I later ended up in my own software development business, so I really know very little about growing. I’m learning daily how to garden and grow a variety of plants and this site will journal these experiences. I also have a great resource and consultant, my father, Gordon Greger.
Why the name One Tree Gardens? When I was a boy, Gordon had a landscaping business in Santa Barbara and his logo is the tree I am using now as my logo and the symbol of One Tree Gardens (see wood toolbox on the side of his truck in the photo). This tree in our logo is actually taken from his rubber stamp that he used back then.
The name was also inspired by my favorite band, U2, and their song One Tree which was a tribute to VĂctor Jara, a Chilean teacher who became a symbol for the struggle of human rights and worldwide justice. Where poets speak their heart…
It’s time for change. The future of food is becoming more and more important. Today, we all want more control of where our food is coming from. From Tower to table, what’s better than growing your own? We believe that real change happens one at a time, one person, one family, one business, one garden, one tree at a time.
